Terminal Management Platform for Optimizing Container Management

“Terminal Management Platform for Optimizing Container Management” (TMP40CM) is a research initiative aimed at developing an innovative model for container management in terminals with a high productivity rate per square meter, specifically at the Port of Salerno. The project aims to overcome the limitations of current container management models, which were defined and developed primarily for large, horizontally-oriented ports with rigid operating rules.

The primary objective is to develop an integrated platform called the “Logistic Management Platform” (LMP), capable of optimizing container location based on changing operating conditions and new information received in real time. The platform will integrate with existing terminal management systems, providing a unified view of container logistics flows and improving operations planning.

Key innovative aspects of the project include:
• The model’s ability to be highly adaptable to the specific needs of the terminal.
• Continuous updating of the optimal container location solution based on new inputs.
• Using modern technologies such as microservices, containerization, and cloud computing to ensure flexibility, scalability, and reliability.
• Implementing a predictive system based on historical and real-time data for accurate forecasts and informed decisions.
